Pros:
  • Extremely good adaptability from Logistics. Constantly moving around the defensive point, keeping tunnels, garrisons, AA guns and supplies up. Knew when to move out and pressure the offensive and when to collapse on the point and rotate.
  • Lots of new guys and console players. The commanders did a fantastic job getting things organized and get running on time.
  • We were a little disadvantaged because of the map points but did a great job taking the point and holding for a while at least.
Cons:
  • Command comms could be a little clearer from unnecessary chatter.
  • Minor audio bugs required some muting of players.

Element Callsign: NVA Dog Squad
Element Leader: Captain Swanson.B
7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element: Corporal Hoover.T, Sergeant Riley.D

Pros:

  • We played well, lots of tunnels and garrisons were built. The spawns were well placed, specially boats.
  • Great job to our commander. Good use of ressource, bombing runs were on point.
  • Dog squad did great. Built a lot of DSHK, gave me what I wanted when I needed it.
Cons:
  • As expected, NVA are unmatched against a well coordinated US team.
  • For the first time in 3 years in the Cav, tonight I had to mute some people. We need to find a way to clear command comms.

Pros:

  • Great kick off to FNF, really happy to be back in it.
  • The team kept up the pressure and helped keep the enemy off of Ammo
  • Shout out to all the AA guns that were built - I feel we shot down a good 10 helos.
Cons:
  • Communication was an issue but it got better towards the end. With consoles in the mix we lose a lot of discord filtering we did for comms. I expect we'll grow and get better the more of these we do.
  • Helicopters were king in this match. They caused a lot of us to over extend chasing down suspected garrisons and/or squads pushing our rear or flanks.
  • The mid objective was extremely hard to push from NVA side.

Pros:
  • An exciting, intense match! Honestly if this is what organized matches are gonna be like in Vietnam, I am so so so in! When is the next one?!
  • We did an excellent job maintaining a network. The strategy of placing garrisons and tunnels in a strong network was executed perfectly. We were able to maintain strong spawns across the map, and we were never truly threatened on our backlines.
  • As far as going toe to toe with the enemy, we were right there with them trading kills. The kills were practically even on both sides overall. What took them over the edge was their commander with some really decisive abilities dropped on us. The napalm is pretty devastating, and it lasts so long that it provides the US with enough time to catch their breath while the area is completely denied.
Cons:
  • We never really generated a lot of pressure on them from the north. A lot of that is due to the map layout, but I felt like we really needed to maintain that ground up north. We lost the midpoint from an attack to the north, and there was no one there to stop it. The entire team had shifted way down south for some reason, and that ultimately cost us the game. If we had been able to position up North along the river banks and formed up squads North of the enemy push, we could have counter flanked their main attack and held the objective. It may not have won us the game, but it certainly would have allowed us to hold longer and establish a better defensive layout.

Pros:

  • We had a good setup and frontline early on in the match.
  • Great timing for the push on the mid cap we made.
  • Tankers were fast and effective firing on targets.
  • On recon we both kept hunting their backup garrisons (7 garrisons off on my part).
  • We were organized right on time like a well oiled machine.
  • First Vietnam FNF !
Cons:
  • I think NVA is currently disadvantaged for multiple reasons. Their helos supply chain was phenomenal.
  • It seems harder to assault that central point from the East than the West with all that water on the NVA side.
  • I could have built more aggressive tunnels, need to improve on that.

Pros:
  • Crew did well to constantly build up AA guns and relocate as necessary to have better sights into midpoint.
  • Squad and logistics comms were clear, allowing for quick reactions and repositioning as needed. Note that logistics had no console in the group, so we were able to use discord for easy SL comms.
Cons:
  • Overextended a few times to chase helicopter infantry and supply drops, ceding more ground than necessary.
  • Know it was random selection, but mid-point is a brutal push on that map for NVA the moment f8/g8 control is brought into question and NVA has to resort to pushing across the water. Feel like it would have been a very different game otherwise.
  • Continue to experience VOIP bugs on my end, apologies.

Element Callsign: NVA Command
Element Leader: Lieutenant Colonel Mix.C
7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element: NA

Pros:

  • So many pros. First the turnout and the over all attitude and willingness to of our members to take on a new set of challenges. That we got so many new folks up to speed and working well together is a testament to the good folks here in the Cav.
  • First Exfor match in HLLV is under our belt!
  • Lots of lessons learned
  • "Snapping Turtle" worked pretty well despite the diagonal point layout and the river causing significant challenges to the strat.
  • Lots of tunnels. Key to any NVA success.
  • I earnestly believe that we played the better game and that our loss was down to imbalance in the factions and the specifics of the map.
  • Comms were for the most part decent.
  • Successfully rolled with the combat team thing despite discord limitations of console players.
Cons:
  • US faction currently has a significant edge. Let's hope they buff NVA a bit.
  • Specifics of the map flip went against us. Particularly the river crossing and the mid point being disconnected from the US second point which cost us momentum and possibly the game.
  • Took me a bit to fully grasp the need to contest south.
  • I think it is arguable that I should have tried to contest mid point off the rip. The boat could have gotten there in time to make it a contest. TBH I am not sure on that as we for sure benefited by getting our defense set.
  • Probably should have run sniper. I'd been contemplating it but honestly had too much organizing to do in the last stretch before live to pivot into those kinds of details.
  • More work to do on Comms
  • Lack of AA guns. I had not considered that not everyone had advanced MG. That said, the AA gun wrench is available at level 1 if the trooper goes to a lighter primary. This did not get raised in game. Will address before the next one.

Pros:

  • Teams stuck together.
  • We took the mid point back after a long drawn out fight. It was just unfortunate that we lost it and that that next cap point was across the map.
Cons:
  • Command Comms were cluttered. Practice in SPs for proper comm use would be very beneficial.
  • Lack of AA guns as NVA
