Pros:
  • No issues on the mod ides of things
  • No issues on the major issues on medical side of things
  • Numbers were better than last time
Cons:
  • Make sure that all things that need to go -7 goes through CLS so it can be really on the medical net when it's possible.
  • When calls for -7 are needed for medical aid please give a location.
  • When Jump brief and while on the helicopter people need to be quiet. This is an ongoing issue.
  • Air Assault needs a lot of work
  • Basic battle drills need a lot of work.

Pros:
  • Good inner communication
  • Fire Team Leaders showed great initiative
  • Little to no Casualties.
  • Great time on the X
Cons:
  • Spacing & Formations
  • Jump calls were too frequent ending in some parachutes undeployed
  • Fast Ropes only used 1 rope, unsure if it was a user issue or the entity only sees 1 active rope.
  • First Objective was not really stated if it was a Destroy, Kill or Capture, or Seizure type raid.
  • Troopers were unsure of what their end goal for for each POI was to receive "Jackpot" was since no "Jackpot" (or equivalent term) was placed on either POI, as stated in all the monthly training goals.
  • Personal - We have been using the GM server for what is suppose to be private operations (Saturdays) It does feel like it doesn't give any exclusivity to being a member if any and all operations are open to the public.

Success/Failure:

Mission success. 2x raid objectives were accomplished. Misfit-3 accomplished their adjusted tasks of assaulting through lanes of the raid objectives to obtain.

Intents/Actuals:

Misfit 3 was to contribute to the platoon RAID on objective, and set to act as far-side security force, blocking enemy movement in and out of objective via MSR. Misfit 3 along with the rest of the platoon was to perform an airborne static line insert, then move to a patrol base, then through 2x waypoints, then move with SBF (misfit 4) and finally land at the far-side security position while the remaining 2x squads were to assault through the objective. Afterwards we were to withdraw, move to OBJ 2, and commit a DESTROY task on any enemy equipment we found.

We were able to complete prep and report to jump brief on time. We were assigned Chalk-2 with PSG as CL. There were 2x troopers in misfit 3 that exited "early" myself included, Note: it seems that by interacting on the map screen and using the "x" button, which is also the "jump" button, I indeed jumped out of the grizzly.

I was successfully placed back in by GM and we performed out airborne static line jump successfully. One of my troopers was injured on landing, and was carried by his buddy successfully to LZRP. Also of note, one of my FTLs lost their radio when the parachute was deployed.

During leaders briefing it was decided that Misfit 3 was to pivot and act as the second Assaulting element on objective, and leave the security tasking to Misfit 4 (in addition to SBF).

Misfit 3 was then 1st in order of march to Patrol Base. We successfully infiltrated with the rest of the platoon across several large ODAs.
We were able to control noise and light discipline and infiltrate all the way to the cold assault position without being discovered. Misfit 4 kicked off the mad minute, and we moved to our lane.

At this point, my alpha fire team became separated from myself and the bravo team and picked an early assault position that was overlapping with Misfit 1. When we pushed in, 3-A was sharing the lane with 1, and 1 let them know. 3-A realized they were off, and moved as quickly as practicable to the north lane, but had heavy contact and so were not able to move immediately.

Objective was cleared, vehicles were found in the garages on the north lane, and all was reported up.

6 then tasked us to support Misfit 4 who had taken a mass casualty with their dual purpose role. We were able to move and support against the enemy QRF coming down the MSR.

My alpha fireteam leader requested to be relieved and his 2IC took over. Succession of command drill was followed.

We moved as a platoon to the new ORP, set security, rearmed, and got new briefing from 6. We had sporadic contact at ORP and the enemy started pushing us from the north-west. We quickly moved in trail behind Misfit-1 to our assault position. The large ODA we had to cross was visible to the enemy and we moved with fireteam bounding to remain covered.

There was a lack of coordination with the start of the assault, perhaps because the enemy knew we were there, and Misfit-1 began their push before a call from 6. I called to 6 and was told to move immediately on objective. At this point misfit 4 was not yet emplaced as SBF, to my knowledge.

We pushed immediately, establishing careful fields of fire for each fireteam so we could move across the ODA through the lane as quickly and securely as possible, but frankly we were lucky we did not suffer many more casualties. Our base of fire from the assault position managed to thin out the enemy foot mobiles enough to give us a gap.

We pushed to our LOA at the helo pad and held security. QRF came in from the west, and we carefully engaged what we could see while keeping our northern security posture held.

Break contact was called, we began fireteam bounding, but then were told the LZ had moved back onto the x, and we moved back to the GRIZZLY, boarded, and were RTB.

At base we conducted a fast rope exit, mostly successfully, with only a few injuries.

Improves:
  • Security position on Objective 1 needed better planning so as not to sacrifice misfit 4 to the task.
  • I needed better control of my Alpha fire team in the movement to our assault position on objective one. I chose speed over accountability and we had overlapping lanes / squad AOs as a result
  • Platoon coordination of assault on objective 2 was lacking
  • Plan for SLM resupply, or explicit call out that there would be no SLM resupply
  • Troopers need to trust that 30 meters is possible and they can keep their formation at that spread. If troopers are not clear on 30 meters it can be an individual task to use a range finder and "see" what that looks like. An infiltration across a huge ODA will benefit by broad spacing.
Sustains:
  • Excellent, successful infiltration stage on to OBJ 1
  • Highly disciplined LZRP after air insert, including great jump buddy cohesion
  • Good ORP leaders briefings
  • Good misfit-3 squad self support / fireteam bounding
  • Excellent fireteam leadership including succession of command / request for relief
  • Excellent squad column movement during infiltration (caveat aside).

Improves:
  • Got domed by an explosive about 15 seconds into the mad minute so I missed most of OBJ 1
  • Hard crashed just before objective 2 and didn't come back.
Sustains:
  • Good platoon comms
  • Better attendance than last one. We should aim to do our FTXs at this time instead of early Saturdays
  • Better battle plan than last time
  • Airborne!
