Briefing:
Following an escalating number of border disputes between Morocco and Spain, Moroccan forces attacked the Spanish garrison located on the historically disputed island of Malden, located 60 miles west of the Gibraltar Straits. The garrison on the island quickly surrendered and were allowed to vacate the island after agreeing to abandon their weapons and equipment. Spain has confirmed over 150 Spanish casualties including 48 dead while the Moroccans have claimed only 32 casualties, although the Moroccan numbers are heavily disputed. Following this assault, Spain has moved to invoke Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty and following the failure to resolve this issue diplomatically, the US has responded by forming Joint Task Force Colorado to launch an amphibious assault to retake the island.
Through a combination of rapid and aggressive air and amphibious assaults, TF Colorado will rapidly move to capture and destroy all Moroccan positions on the island of Malden.
