Briefing
The stability within the Region of Anizay has been unstable for the last five months. The US have been monitoring the situation closely and the US Army has been on stand by for 3 months, ready for deployment. First Battalion, 7th Cavalry have been stationed in Turkey under a joint NATO task force, codename ARARAT, conducting exercises and maintaining preparedness.
Earlier today, there was a military coup and all access to the country was restricted. The government dissolved and there has been open riots, gunfire in both the streets; both in protest and in favour of the coup, and the general military activity has been overwhelming but lacking coordination. The power vacuum is split between eight different Warlords and there seems to be a continuing struggle for ultimate power in the region.
JSOC enablers have been prematurely deployed to the Region of Anizay in order to establish avenues of approach. One of the JSOC teams, codename OLD, has provided intel of an area (AOI Touchdown) which will serve nicely as staging zone for 1-7s operations throughout the campaign to stabilize the region. AOI Touchdown used to be an abandoned US outpost, however reports indicate that it is currently occupied by forces belonging to the warlord Tariq Ibn Talal al-Sahrawi, veteran of foreign wars turned regional powerbroker in Anizay's highlands.
