AO: Virolahti
Situation: Following a brutal wipe of Finland's Jaeger Battalion and a push back to a decommissioned airstrip in the southwest of the Virolahti region, Carrier Strike Group 14 has dangerously sailed its way into the Gulf of Finland and has staged very close to the coast of Harvajanniemi. Following the surge of separatist activity and a US Carrier Strike Group so close to St Petersburg, Russia has instituted a No Fly Zone over the eastern border of Virolahti. The US has agreed to not send aircraft into the No Fly Zone, but has requested the Russians do not penetrate past the No Fly Zone. Russia has agreed, verbally, but radar activity shows unmarked aircraft exiting the No Fly Zone and conducting air strikes on Finnish villages. Russia has denied the aircraft being from their VVS group.
In preparation to turn the fight in NATO's favor, the US Joint Strike Forces are prepared to conduct a multi-domain attack on separatist forces in Virolahti.
Mission: 1-7CAV is to disrupt the enemy's anti-area access denial (A2AD) attempts by conducting aviation operations. This will open a vital window to insert a joint US and Finnish Airborne Task Force along a vital crossroad. Carrier Strike Group 14, in tandem with the remnants of a CAS element staged at the airstrip, will prepare a potential DZ for use, ensuring the security of the DZ and eliminating enemy armor, SHORAD, and artillery sites within 10km of the DZ. Aviation elements will also provide first "eyes on" ISR on enemy locations and operations within 10km of the DZ to ensure exceptional situational awareness for future multi-domain battles.
Support: 1-7CAV will be supported by electronic warfare units that will attempt to expose enemy radar locations. Flights can expect enemy radars to "pop up" as they are exposed.
