Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Readers!
Dear Readers,
As the winds of November usher in the season of reflection and gratitude, we gather not just to celebrate the holidays but also to honor the moments and people who make the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment such an extraordinary community. This Thanksgiving, we are proud to present a very special issue of the Cavalry Times, one that captures the heart of our regiment through the voices of those who know it best.
This issue is a collaborative effort, brought to life by the incredible work of not just myself but also Specialist Hansel and Specialist Lawrence, whose stories and insights enrich these pages. Together, we've aimed to craft a snapshot of a month filled with challenges, triumphs, and the unshakable camaraderie that defines the 7th Cavalry.
Take, for instance, Operation Hamburger Hill, vividly recounted by SPC Hansel. This harrowing tale of grit and determination takes us straight to the frontlines of Carentan's infamous Mount Halais. The battle was fierce, the odds steep, but as Hansel masterfully narrates, it was the unyielding spirit of our regiment that turned the tide. It's not just a story of victory; it's a story of what we can achieve together, even in the face of overwhelming adversity.
And what a month it's been! The Extra Life charity stream, in support of Lurie Children's Hospital, was a shining example of what this regiment stands for. Smashing through every fundraising goal, we demonstrated that our camaraderie extends beyond the battlefield. Together, we raised hope, funds, and spirits, proving that the 7th Cavalry's legacy is as much about service as it is about gaming.
As I reflect on the incredible work of Hansel, Lawrence, and the many contributors who make the Cavalry Times possible, I'm reminded of the unique stories we all bring to this community. You'll find some of these stories in our Thankful Thursday feature, where GOA Chance.JT and CSM Nexhex.A share powerful reflections on gratitude, resilience, and the bonds that make the 7th Cavalry more than a regiment—it's a family.
So as you sit down to read this issue, I invite you to reflect on what the Cavalry means to you. Whether it's the thrill of the battlefield, the laughter in Discord, or the pride of being part of something bigger, each of us contributes to the rich tapestry of this regiment. And for that, I am deeply grateful.
On behalf of myself, SPC Hansel, and SPC Lawrence, thank you for being the heart of this community. Thank you for your stories, your dedication, and your unwavering support. This Thanksgiving, as we gather with our families and friends, know that you are part of something truly special.
Happy Thanksgiving, and here's to many more stories to come.
Respectfully,
SSG Hunter Whaley
