Pros: Intensity was very well-liked, difficulty level was enjoyable
Cons: Members did not enjoy being left on a hill for 15 minutes, Issues with getting back to the front without rallies, bots were too accurate

Pros

  • Educational Value: Reenacting the D-Day invasion digitally provides an interactive way to learn about this crucial moment in history, offering insights into the strategies and hardships faced by the Allied forces.

  • Tribute to Veterans: The event serves as a respectful tribute to the soldiers who fought and sacrificed, helping to keep their memory alive and honor their service.

  • Community Engagement: Brings together members of the 7th Cavalry Regiment and other participants in a shared experience, fostering camaraderie and a deeper connection to historical events.

  • Strategic Skill Development: The simulation offers a chance to practice coordination and tactical decision-making in a complex setting, enhancing participants' strategic thinking abilities.
Cons
  • Communication Challenges: As noted, communication was not optimal, which could detract from the effectiveness and enjoyment of the reenactment. Improving this aspect is crucial for a successful operation.

  • Overcrowding with AI: The presence of too many AI-controlled characters might have made the simulation feel less realistic or overwhelming, potentially reducing the quality of interaction and player involvement for instance not having any safe landing spots at any time on the map without being hit with HE from the Objective while landing on an aircraft carrier.

Technical Requirements: Such events require significant technical setup and reliable internet connections, which could be a barrier for some participants.

Pros:
  • The operation concept was good.
  • Had a lot of fun!
  • Enjoyed how hard it was to push the beach and establish a beachhead. The setup of the beach was excellent and it was very difficult to navigate.
  • Enjoyed running armor, wish we had a driver and been able to properly run the LAV with a TC.
  • The effort by S3 to make this operation and to commemorate D-Day.
Cons:
  • Communications for armor need to be rethought. Consider organizing all armor into one squad and identify one of the tank commanders as a Platoon Leader to be the point for communication with the OIC. This could reduce our amount of traffic on the command net.
  • Communication overall felt very sporadic and could be improved.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:
Good Internal Squad Communication.
Good Chaos Factor.
Intermounted Communication was Good.
When/After Beach was Pushed, It was Enjoyable.
Palerider 4 Adapted Well.

Negatives:
"Scripted"/Synthetic Movement & Lack of Autonomy.
The beginning section was drawn out extremely, and it lead to boredom.
External Communication was somehow both clogged and unresponsive, with communication between Mounted and Palerider Forces being chaotic and poor.
All Mounted Elements should be compiled into 1 singular squad.
Negligent Discharges need to be eliminated, with several negligent discharges being caused by poor communication between Mounted and Palerider forces.
Operation had a "Forced" Feel.
- Operation didn't know what it wanted to be.
- Tried being everything, fell short of all.
- Operation felt like it was short on preparation.

Mixed:
Palerider and Mounted Forces worked well together, but Palerider Forces need to be aware and clear of Main Gun Overpressure.

Pros:

  • Operation was well written and fun
  • Operation created some of the frustrations soldiers may have seen in combat
  • Great first attempt as a tribe to our veterans from D-Day
Cons:
  • Section spacing while under duress was not to good
  • Some bots where possibly to accurate
  • would suggest Engineers, could use shovel on certain assets for removal.
