To Whom it may concern,

I joined the Cav not too long ago and I see a major flaw with both Alpha Company And Charlie Company.

I asked around and know that a good chunk of the Cav live in the America's so this is not applicable to them, but for the people in the EU or Asia this is kind of a deal breaker.

Lets say you're someone from the EU and wanted to become a Rotary Pilot. you have a perfect Squad with Sergeant Parker Queens, What about if you wanted to be a Fixed Wing Pilot?

Well this is where the main issue arrives, there is no suitable timeslot for EU residence to commit to Alpha Squad if they wish to be a Fixed Wing Pilot, as the only slots Available are at 0300Z - 0100Z.

In my honest opinion those timings are out of reach for most EU residence due to the fact that not everyone can stay up past midnight due to obligations like jobs and school.

Alright, forget flying what about Charlie Company?

There is only 1 slot in First Platoon, and no slots in Second Platoon that is reasonable for EU residence, which makes the diversity in those Platoons non-existent.

On the other hand Bravo Company has 6 Slots for EU residence but only 1 slot in Second Platoon that people from the Americas could attend.

These timings should be adjusted and balanced so at least for each platoon there should be a time for both EU and NA residence to enjoy without having to be awake at late night.

Thank you for reading this letter.

Best Regards,

PFC.Sullivan.A.

The time slots are dictated by the squad leaders. If the Squad Lead is from the US more than likely it will be US time and vice versa. To promote people that can do other times would destroy people working to be promoted but rather force those from other countries to be promoted. Ops for me are normally afternoon I can normally not attend all of them due to this. It goes back and forth with this issue.

EU Friendly Squads and Sections:
A/1/A/1-7 1700z Rotory
4/2/B/1-7 1800z Cavalry Scouts
A/1/B/1-7 1900z Support Cavalry
B/1/B/1-7 1900z Support Cavalry
C/1/B/1-7 1900z Support Cavalry
1/2/B/1-7 1900z Cavalry Scouts
2/2/B/1-7 1900z Cavalry Scouts
1/1/C/1-7 1900z Airborne Infantry
1/4/C/1-7 1900z Airborne Infantry (WEP)

All 1st Battalion SP times.

We have a perfect split of 9 sections at American friendly times and 9 that are EU friendly. We do the best we can. It is unfortunate that Fixed wing has no option. But every other MOS does. Should be plenty of space for you in any squad.

As was previously stated timeslots are determined by SL's, but they are also determined by troopers. 2/A/1-7 is populated by mostly all US timezone individuals. Thus they need the times they have. If we had 4 to 5 Euro individuals want to come to Alpha, we'd be happy to create an entire new section just for them so they can make the SP's work. But to force others to take MOS's they don't want for the benefit of a few timezone conveniences would only hurt morale and in the end retention.

Alright, forget flying what about Charlie Company?

There is only 1 slot in First Platoon, and no slots in Second Platoon that is reasonable for EU residence, which makes the diversity in those Platoons non-existent.

Keep in mind that everyone in Charlie Co has the same job and I think most of us are content with the way the platoons are set up. If you are European and want to do airborne infantry you go to 1/C/1-7, if you're American you generally have a bit more choice. That's the nature of the 7th Cav being an American unit. But due to this the platoons have also developed their own individual identities so to speak which is kind of cool.

I think it's a good thing for us to have our own slightly different cultures within the company. I think it makes for healthier platoons. Like for example, if the platoon ever needs to muster more numbers for an FTX or joint SP they can do so because they operate at the same times. There really wouldn't be a benefit to changing that.

Also, like Coots more or less said. SP times are generally carried on because it's the time that already works for the members in that section and new SLs keep it because changing it is generally not necessary.

It sucks if you're EU and want to fly fixed wing. But that's a specific issue that should be directed at Alpha Co I suppose.

I’m from Alberta Canada and my time zone isn’t vastly inconvenient but my lifestyle is, I worked some stuff in my personal life around to be able to attend 2/A/1-7 SP times, it was a small sacrifice but totally worth it.

Alpha Co. is the first place I truly feel at home with the Cav and I’m happy I did what I did, or I may not have stayed. Fixed wing is a minority in the grand scheme of things and it feels like a small tight knit family, we would be happy to have you if you could make it work.

Best of luck, Brother.
