Pros:

  • Insanely fantastic turnout. Especially early on for the first three missions. Pretty sure we maxed it out on the server... or at least got very close. Very nice to see us collaborate with another clan which was really cool.
  • Extremely EXCELLENT aviation skills at work and on display for all to see. Emphasize flight skills were off-scale fantastic.
  • Extremely excellent and perfectly competent Crew on board the birds. You simply can't ask for better than what they did. Even in a couple instances, there was on-the-spot learning about the Hatchet model 60 (FRIES/Hook/Airdrop) and it went smoothly and worked very effectively.
  • Extremely fun and extremely well designed operation. I would like to have had an actual OPORD for each one instead of FRAGOs, but that's my personal opinion. Like I actually study these OPORDS yall make, so yes I am somewhat of a nerd.
  • Absolutely EXCELLENT teamwork across the board.
  • Absolutely excellent comms throughout with ship to ship comms. There were a few periods where there was difficulty getting ahold of 5 but we are The Cav and we managed and that was resolved.
  • Multiple FRIES (fast-rope) insertions were generally quite good. Unfortunately I think one guy fell out if I remember correctly.
  • EXTREMELY GREAT hoist/hook operations multiple times. This proves that our Hatchet MH-60 hoist/hook system works very well with competent pilots in a stable and intelligent hover. Even hoisted some NPC AI HVTs which was super cool.
  • Placed TFAR Communication Towers EXTREMELY valuable so we didn't make a mess out of communications by having to relay comms through other aircraft.
  • Extremely professional and well executed CSAR conducted throughout.
  • Multiple successful autorotations resulting in crew survival and CSAR.
  • All in all, a really great time. Total respect and admiration for the Mission Makers and OICs that pulled this off. Superbly well done.

Cons:
  • FPS (Frames per second) got quite low at some points, into single digits, which is terrible when flying helicopters in AFM. Makes the normal challenging aspect of AFM 100x harder. Probably due to server load, which is understandable, but wanted to mention.
  • Some very frustrating TFAR issues on some of the maps or scripts or whatever. What I mean is on one mission, it worked perfectly and the next mission it was not working once the server was restarted and rolled.
  • On the Air Assault, Grizzly (CH-47) was selected for initial insert, understandably due to the sheer number of players present on the server. This is always an extremely dangerous/unpredictable and always makes me a little queasy because you just never know with this thing. This was proven here when our GRIZZLY-1 Chinook exploded and was yeeted into orbit faster than SpaceX Elon could do. If we are going to use this airframe in the future, ground forces must know about the hit boxes near the ramp and they need to be instructed before hand. Like it needs to be a whole point of focus discussion. Otherwise, unless we adopt the promising CH-47 mod at some point, we may want to stick to the CH-53 for large inserts. (It sucks as well, but at least it doesn't just blow up like 47 does.) Or the Blackfoot. Or preferably, just simply do multiple inserts with the MH-60s as a flight. First group can secure the area and then we would be right back with the next chalk and so forth as many times as we have to. It's real easy and reliable.
  • For whatever crazy reason, some of these maps or scripts or mission file or whatever not only screwed up the TFAR, but also screwed up our MH-60 camera FLIR systems. They simply would NOT work. You couldn't even deploy them. This is very different than the bug/glitch when you maybe lose zoom and have to jump out of the bird and jump back in and then it works... this was a situation where it would not deploy whatsoever. No matter what we tried. Even new birds did not fix it, so something globally must have screwed that up.
  • While I understand that it is a 24 hour OP, sometimes, between missions, it felt a little rushed to get into game-time for some "pew-pew-pew" and I understand FRAGOs but, we in a 24 hour OP, we have time to take the time and not rush.
NOTE: If I left your name out, I'm sorry, let me know and I'll edit. We were so busy and what a long OP.
