  • Solid operation, lots of people had fun
  • Really good execution of the objectives
  • Responsiveness to changes was on-point
  • HVT was captured alive and interrogated, resulting in the elimination of an IED factory

Cons:
  • Comms breakdown because of ACRE
  • inner-troop issues
  • Movement was a bit slow at times
  • Comms could use some work above squad level

Pros:

  • Mission completed successfully with limited casualties
  • When the platoon was moving and executing orders, done it effectively and swiftly
  • Comms when ACRE was working were good

Cons:

  • Major ACRE issues required multiple sustained radio checks to resolve

Element Callsign: SABRE-1

Element Leader: Corporal Lamb.J

Corporal York.K
Specialist Fisher.S

Pros:

  • SABRE's 1 and 2 had STELLAR communication. When I asked for a LACE, SITREP, BDA, from SABRE-2 they were already ready to go and gave it out quick and precise.
  • Operation Concept was good and the execution, especially at the end was pretty good.
  • Good demonstration of the Canister and Fragmentation rounds abilities in low-level insurgency operations.
  • Both SABRE's conducted good movement and an excellent call for change in formation which was executed flawlessly.
  • Flexibility in movement was good and execution was perfectly timed.
  • No SABRE casualties :)
  • Ending assault highlighted some fucking badass execution and seek/destroy operations tanks can conduct when required.

Cons:
  • Improper usage of SABRE elements. Low level insurgency Operations are more geared towards M2A3 Bradley IFV's for infantry support. The M1A2 Abrams proved that while it performed well, it was extremely difficult given conditions, tempo and confinement especially at the bridge.
  • ACRE radio issues.
  • SABRE elements were initially tasked with crossing the bridge first. But a change of plans directed by CPL. Lamb.J and CPL. York.K had SABRE setting up defilade and security overwatching the bridge. This should be done in future ops where SABRE has limited mobility to move.
  • SABRE and VIKING communication needs to be more tuned and more coordinated. Communication was lacking and only communication with VIKING-6 was established. SABRE had no idea where to maneuver to avoid VIKING forces and multiple times of VIKING crossing SABRE's muzzle.
  • VIKING elements were slow to pack up and move which cost SABRE ammunition and fuel trying to screen for an excessive time period. By the end of the Operation SABRE was out of ammo and unable to support.
  • Urban MOUT should have been conducted. Establishing at the crossroads put up a bit of a challenge especially with unknown IDF fire occasionally coming down. Holding at a crossroad is a danger factor to tanks.
  • Semi-Lack of understanding SABRE's role in low level insurgency. Reference a guide created by myself, CPL. Lamb.J which explains Tanks and missions for S3 mission making. (Please message for details)

Pros:

  • Very fun OP. Sluggish at first but picked up quite nicely towards the end!
  • Comms on the medical net were phenomenal! Propper etiquette, brevity, and message length. All top-tier work by leads and anyone acting as 2IC helping with radios!
  • Response time to casualties was solid, considering the communication difficult on the platoon side of things!
  • Altas teams were incredibly flexible, with individuals stepping away and monitoring multiple radio nets. This reflected highly upon the team leads that stepped up and the troopers who offered to run as 2IC and take the reigns when their element leads had to step away or had communication issues.

Cons:

  • ACRE issues made platoon comms questionable at times. This was a persistent issue throughout the OP, with communications slipping through the net.
  • The Blueforce tracker was a mess throughout the OP, with most elements' callsigns not represented. Directing the MMTs to specific teams without being able to track them via Android was difficult, especially when compounded with the radio issues.
  • Handing off care during the Mas-Cas incident when one team needed to be pulled away could have been handled more efficiently. This is something we should revisit in the future.
All in all, a very fun OP with some great moments. Some faces in leadership positions we don't see very often, which is always excellent. I'm thankful for the opportunity to run as Platoon Medic in a Troop FTX setting and look forward to the next FTX!

Element Callsign: ATLAS-2
Element Leader: Specialist Phillips.O

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Corporal Ewing.R
Corporal Eugene.R

Corporal Rozhkov.P
Private Turn.J

Pros:

  • The entire team reported a fun experience during the OP.
  • Excellent radio comms between team members, element leads, and platoon medic.
  • Exciting (if a little chaotic) mas-cas event towards the end.

Cons:

  • Corporal Ewing.R had persistent radio issues throughout the OP, leading to the team leader position being handed off to the 2IC.
  • The mas-cas event was somewhat hectic, as mentioned in the "pros."
  • It should be reiterated that when administering fluids, saline must always be administered before blood to prevent issues with the patient's renal system and inhibit the development of blood acidosis. This can be critical during mas-cas events when medics heavily dosing with coagulants like TXA and EACA, which are highly sensitive to blood pH levels.
Overall excellent work from the team today, the flexibility and patience exhibited by all troopers speaks highly of themselves and the unit as a whole.

Pros:

  • Good team comms and inter-team comms despite persistent ACRE issues.
  • Good handling of patient care, with accurate treatment callouts and priority.
  • Minimal black tags throughout the OP thanks to hasty action despite communication and awareness difficulties.

Cons:

  • Patients tended to move away while still under treatment. Everyone understands the rush to get back into the action, but moving away while prepping for a transfusion or being dosed with medication only increases the likelihood of going uncon upon the subsequent injury. Preventative medicine is preferable to risking being uncon or dead due to low blood pressure or uncontrolled hemorrhaging.
Good work from the team today, and great flexibility from the 2IC stepping up when 1IC had to depart. The patience, flexibility and response timing speak well upon the entire team.
