Pros:
  • Hearts and Minds is an interesting mission format.
  • Having to watch out for civilians and collateral damage is a great way to force us to achieve complex solutions to nominally simple problems.
  • CAS worked hard to safeguard the convoy from multiple threats along the way.
Cons:

  • Unclear rules of engagement (from the mission mode, not the ones from CoC), we have vehicles charging our formation and we get negative points for shooting out the tires. At one point CAS destroyed a truck full of enemy combatants and got massive negative points, likely because the truck was a civilian vehicle.
  • CAS is not used to having to watch out for civilian structures and overused HE solutions to problems like Hydra runs and so on.
  • INFIDEL audibly angry on LR12 with inquiries after above incidents and indications of massive H&M point loss. Comments above about PSG "overstepping bounds" - INFIDEL is subordinate of Viking-6 and -5, the CoC is well within rights to inquire INFIDEL if the fire mission was actually observed as Type 1 as per briefed ROE (because it was not clear from comms on LR12), or instruct them to withhold HE within the built up areas and use guns only. LR 12 is the channel for CoC to request CAS from Infidel or instruct them on how to proceed with further fire missions.
  • Comms between INFIDEL and CAS elements on LR12 about being cleared on targets, very lax at times, no procedural communication, no ingress / egress, no mode of attack, just "Hey, I saw a BRDM NW of the convoy, can I take it out? // Yeah, go ahead for it".

  • People volunteered to Drive Stryker's (not a popular role.
Cons:

  • Poor Communication between Squad Members.
  • Poor Coordination between SL and FTL's.
  • Unsure 60% of the time what my role was even after contacting 5/6 due to constant changes in requests.
