Over the last fortnight the neighbouring State of Khormashahr has fallen into a state of civil war. While most of the fighting has been conducted in the wider region, the last 48 hours has seen the fighting shift focus into the Capital. The Government backed Armed Forces have been stretched thin, mostly relegated to guarding key government complexes and facilities. Splinter groups have taken these opportunities to conduct raids on known Weapon Facilities and Army Camps, in turn gaining access to heavy weaponry.
With the violence in the Capital escalating, groups that oppose our political ideology have taken the opportunity to conduct mortar and rocket attacks against our border cities. The US Air Force and Army have been retaliating against these artillery fire positions, through the use of F-16 and F/A-18s. The USAF and AAF strike packages are set to be expanded in an attempt to eliminate or hinder Command & Control and Logistics.
Furthermore, the Khormashahr Government reported they lost contact with a Guard Company at a weapons facility in the early hours of this morning. This was believed to store Surface-to-Air weapon systems, such as the SA-300, and short-ranged 9k38 Igla. Loss of these weapon systems pose a direct threat to neighbouring Military and Civilian Air Traffic, therefore a detachment of the US Army, 7th Cavalry Regiment has been ordered to conduct a Border Incursion to seize or destroy the Weapon Site.
