Operation Desert Bungie
In response to the killings of 4 U.S. Blackwater PMCs and the killings of 5 American troops in March of 2004, Operation Vigilant Resolve and the First Battle of Fallujah commenced. Not long after in April, the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force alongside Infantry, Airborne, and Cavalry Detachments, encircled the city of Fallujah in an attempt to "re-establish security in Fallujah". After 5 days of heavy fighting in the southern district of Fallujah, there was finally a unilateral ceasefire from U.S. forces.
It's been 3 days since the ceasefire; until now, there had only been the occasional firefight. Unfortunately as of 0730Z, we have had reports that an MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter just went down in the northwest end of the city.
With drawdown operations in full swing and an insurgent stronghold just north of the city not far from the crash site, Charlie Company, ACD, of the 7th Cavalry has been tasked with a rescue operation taking us through the city to save the pilots.
