The Squad Combined Arms School is proud to announce that we will be conducting the Rotary Wing Operations course. RWO is focused on cultivating and testing the skills necessary to becoming a pilot in the Squad AO. This course is the first of a two-class rotary mnemonic, and upon its successful completion, will award qualifying candidates with the Army Aviator Badge. This course consists of a classroom portion and a qualification. The class is approximately 180 minutes (3 hours) long.
Troopers Will Learn
- Rotary Wing basics
- Basic flight introduction
- Basic flight patterns
- Pick-Up and Drop-Off (PUDO) best practices
- Advanced flight patterns
- Hot Landing Zone PUDO best practices
- Rotary Qualification in the UH-60 Blackhawk
Student Prerequisites
- No current active NFA (Non-Favorable Action).
- Pen and paper
- Squad installed and working prior to class start time.
- General knowledge of helicopter controls
Notes
- Minimum of 2 students.
- Maximum of 5 students.
- Priority given to troopers assigned to the Squad AO.
