    Changes and Survey

    The S3 department has been working hard on improving and making changes to be implemented this Summer, 2018. In addition to change in Operations and Training, S3 will be making some changes to S3 Public Staff and the public servers as well. The following is an informative post and survey to make all members aware of what to expect.

    The goal of these changes is to reinforce and improve the S3 Public Staff's mission. S3 Public Staff’s standing mission is offer quality milsim and gameplay to the public and fellow cav members via public servers (Tac1, Tac2, and ACV) for the purpose of recruitment, training, and enjoyment.

    All changes and updates will implemented on Thursday, 28JUN2018.


    Tactical Realism 2 Server Changes
    Tactical Realism 2's core mission format will be temporarily redesigned to something resembling Invade and Annex. Elements of the current mission format may be reintroduced as things are developed with the goal of creating a fun and seamless game mode that is varied and encourages tactical play.

    Vanilla enemies will no longer be used on the default mission files. The current discrepancy between RHS and Vanilla equipment and damage prevents the two from being used together resulting in frustration.

    The number of mission files will be temporarily reduced to one. The current mission rotation consists of over 20 different mission files. This was impractical as any small change or bug fix could mean updating 20 separate files resulting in slow turn around and poor quality. In order to keep some map variety in the server new mission files may be substituted in the future and MCCs will be setup to run on any available map.

    A modified version cScipts will be coming to Tac2. This means advanced medical, ACRE radio channels, and all of the reports and checklists you’re used to.


    Public Staff Changes
    The creation and execution of official public operations will officially be moved from the S3 Public Staff sub department to the S3 Operations sub department as a part of an effort con consolidate and improve the overall quality of all S3 official operations. Official public operations will be run on a bi-monthly basis by S3 Operations.

    In the past, large numbers of MCCs were being run on a weekly basis. The quantity seemed to lower the overall quality of the MCCs. In order to fix this, MCCs will no longer be conducted at-will or on the regular mission file. S3 Public Staff will sign up for pre-scheduled time slots and load mission files created specifically for Zeusing. Time will be offered to be both European and the Americas friendly

    Note that in order to facilitate administration on the server, squad leaders and up will retain B3 and zeus spectator access while the regular mission file is running as well as during zeus specific mission files.

    Survey
    In order to find times that best fit the majority of players, please fill out this survey and select the times that best suit your availability for events on the public servers.

    These scheduled Zeus missions run by Public Staff - are they meant for Tac2 exclusively or are they also meant to be run on our ACV and Tac1 servers?

    It would be awesome if some of these missions could be run in ACV and TAC1 servers...good question, CPL.Moraru.R - ;)

    ACV already runs zeus-run missions on their server. The scheduled missions will be run on TAC 2. TAC 1 will have at least one more public op this summer, we just have to figure out what crashed the server during the last one.

    Is it possible to put AI in empty slots on tanks and IFVs? It's not often you find enough people for a full crew.

    It would also be nice to have a wider selection of ground vehicles to get around with, and fight with.

    Initially, probably not, but this is something we can look at doing after the changes roll out. There will be balancing that is done to optimize everything and this is an option that will be considered.

    Can The a-10 be armed with something other than mk82 and hydra. If we was fighting a weaker force that was armed with armoured m2 trucks then i wouldn't mind but trying to take out AAA with dumb bombs is not fun aha. Or give me a f18 with a carrier then I wouldn't care :D

    Definitely agree that there shouldn't be a fixed "one size fits all" loadout. It should be determined by the pilot flying it and Zeus.

    oh also can we get rid of the hemmits and use the RHS ammo,repair and refuel trucks?

    On MCCs I feel they are incredibly important part of Tac 2. It offers those looking for a unit, and playing on Tac 2 a taste of what 7CAV has to offer. Truth be told I had already submitted a application for another unit when I first played on Tac 2. My first night on Tac 2, and playing the MCCs that night convinced me I should join the 7th Cavalry instead. So I withdrew my application for the other unit, and put in a application for here. MCCs are the life blood of Tac 2, and I feel reducing the amount of MCCs too much could be even more detrimental to the health of the server.

    If we are re-tooling the server I think we should also offer a slightly broader selection of vehicles to the motor pool. It would be nice to see one or two m1117's added, and maybe some of the vanilla armored vehicles as alternatives to the M1. As much as I like the RHS Abrams, it has been inferior to the vanilla ones in many aspects ever since the tanks DLC. Also if possible I think it would be ideal to implement a solution that lets players re-equip aircraft themselves, either by using the FIR ammo rack with the f-15 and F-16 or with a script.

    I look forward to a lot of the changes mentioned above, and anything that makes it easier to develop the server is great in my book.

    Only problem with that is that the vanilla tanks would then become pretty OP compared to the abrams, as RHS RPGs and disposables from infantry would do basically no damage to it, we all know how stronk the CSAT Vanilla tank is vs TOWs, Javs, LAWs and AT4s

    True, but some of the lighter tanks like the Rhino and Slammer are not all that tough, and the russian ATGMs are pretty powerful. I think the CSAT tanks in general are also better armored than the NATO ones.
