[S3] [ACE] ARMA | Fixed Wing Training in October 2019

    S3 ARMA AVIATION CENTER OF EXCELLENCE



    The S3 ArmA Aviation Center of Excellence is conducting fixed-wing flight training in the month of October. This training is open to all troopers of the Regiment, regardless of MOS. We will be running the Ground School, Basic Fixed-Wing and Advanced Fixed-Wing courses. While these courses must be completed in order, they may be done over any period of time that suits the individual student - there is no time-out period. After completing each course, the student must pass an evaluation one-on-one with an ACE Instructor Pilot.

    October Schedule

    Ground School - 05OCT19 @ 1600Z
    Basic Fixed-Wing - 6OCT19 @ 1630Z
    Advanced Fixed-Wing - 13OCT19 @ 1600Z

    Ground School

    Ground School is common to both rotary and fixed-wing aviators. It is approximately 1 hour long and covers the following topics:
    • Flight basics.
    • Airfield familiarization.
    • Radio procedures.
    • Aeronautical navigation.
    • Aircrew procedures.
    • Flying the circuit.
    • Landing procedures.
    • Emergency procedures.

    • Prerequisite for Basic Rotary Course [BRC]
    • Prerequisite for Door Gunner Course [DGC]
    • Prerequisite for Basic Fixed-Wing Course [BFWC]
    • Leads to the Army Aviator Badge
    • Leads to the Aircrew Badge
    • Arma 3 Career Pathway

    Basic Fixed-Wing

    Basic Fixed-Wing is approximately 1.5 hours long and covers the following topics:
    • Pre-flight and start-up.
    • Taxi and parking.
    • Takeoff.
    • Flight Maneuvers.
    • Approach and Landing.
    • Bullseye.
    • SERE.
    Career Pathway
    • Prerequisite for Advanced Fixed-Wing Course [AFWC]
    • Leads to the Army Aviator Badge
    • Arma 3 Career Pathway

    Advanced Fixed-Wing

    Advanced Fixed-Wing is approximately 2 hours long and covers the following topics:
    • Flight planning.
    • UAV operation.
    • 9 Lines.
    • Enhanced Sensors.
    • Active Radar.
    • Air-to-ground combat.
    • Air-to-air combat.
