The Bronze Star Medal with Valor Is Awarded To Staff Sergeant Micah Whitsel For an extraordinary act of valor while under direct enemy fire while serving as a Stryker driver during combat operations near Agia Marina on 09NOV19. Staff Sergeant Micah Whitsel defended his platoon from a mechanized quick reaction force responding to the assault of Camp Rogain. Sergeant Whitsel skillfully placed the Styker in a hull-down position to allow the gunner to spot and engage targets and while under direct enemy fire and at great personal risk, dismounted and skillfully used multiple AT-4's to destroy 2 BTRs and a BMP from a range of 700 meters that were threatening his platoon. The QRF was stopped in its tracks and the Stykers gained freedom of maneuver on the remaining infantry in the valley, which directly helped lead to the successful completion of their mission. His quick reaction, skill, and personal valor helped prevent the counterattack and maintain momentum on the objective. Staff Sergeant Whitsel's actions bring great credit upon himself, the 7th Cavalry Regiment, and the United States. Congratulations!
