A little late, but a great vid and I am very excited for ARMA4 as well. I have no doubt that the devs have taken in a massive amount of performance data and will use it to improve the next engine, Enfusion, in a major way.
I am skeptical as to whether or not there will be an Arma4. I hope there is. I want there to be. Desperately. lol
It is inevitable.
Franchises like this that offer a sandbox experience and developer support have long legs they are prime real estate for addons and dlcs so they are profitable. As far as I know they have more content for Arma3 in the works which I'm not a fan of. The public community does a better job and the content Bohemia releases has been less and less compelling for me. Everything besides Laws of War and Jets was not worth buying and that UFO stuff was nonsensical. So I would prefer they put their efforts into tools for the public to make addition addons easier, faster and better and leave that other garbage be.
I see no reason why they wouldn't make Arma4, what makes you think they won't @Burton.P
Just the fact that they've pumped out to much DLC for Arma3, to the extent that they had to push something involving aliens. XD
That was just a stab in the dark trying to make money and it fell on its face. It was poorly done so I don't think we will have to worry about that crap anymore.
Aw cmon, Contact was fun. The campaign was a nice change of pace, we got a beautiful new map out of it, a new faction and another sub-faction, and some other miscellaneous stuff.
Exactly, campaign was on par with rest of single player ARMA3, Livonia is bloody gorgeous and there's factions out of it. Great DLC. The mere fact that they haven't abandoned the game is a problem? Bwuh.
Contact was an abomination.
So I'm assuming all you Contact DLC haters never played the campaign. If you had you would know it's the best content BI has ever put out. That DLC was AMAZING and the scripting for the new game play elements was nothing short of wizardry.
Honestly an ancient old Arma complaint.. One Of the worst optimized games between the years of creation lol.. It doesn't matter if you have a $700 PC or $4000 PC it’s running similar.. That’s the only thing I ask for Arma 4.. Please.. Be optimized so new gen PCs can really take advantage of it haha.
I enjoyed contact, it had a different feel to it and I enjoyed it
I just hope there are more realistic environmental physics in Arma 4. Like if you wanna do fm a tunnel the. You can, or craters made from huge bombs that drop. Flying debris from a house that just got hot from Bomb etc. twigs not stopping tanks.
If you've played DayZ standalone you'll at least see how the movement/lighting etc will be like in A4 or improved.
They didn't do that out of desperation. The original devs originally wanted to make a game about fighting aliens when the original flashpoint was in its very early stages of development. They paid homage to their roots and the passion project that make arma a reality with that DLC. It is also without a doubt from a technical standpoint the most difficult yet most well-executed piece of content they have ever created.
I always wonder what OFP and the series would have been if they went with their original plans.
if 4 happens, i may come back to the cav lol
If they wanted to make money, they should just do their own addons for ‘modern day/Op Iraqi Freedom’
They’d become requirements for so many clans, that they’d end up rolling in it. Just like Paradox and their own DLC strategy
I'm sure they'd probably like to do that with RHS with a "3rd Party DLC" style release like Global Mobilization, but transitioning a mod that has always been free to a paid DLC would be a pretty tough sell, for better or worse. If they did stuff like that but made it a full release where everybody gets the assets but you need the DLC to drive/gun the vehicles and use the weapons that'd be pretty dope in my opinion. I think it would upset a lot of the playerbase at the same time though.
