    To understand my position on this I shall present a wall of text on how I got into the 7th Cavalry. I do have a TL; DR at the bottom if you don’t feel like reading through it though and don’t blame you if you don’t want to as I tend to chatter too much about myself sometimes:D

    From when I first bought Arma 3 up until early 2016 I had only seen the 7th Cav as just another clan running one of the many I&A (Invade & Annex) servers I played on. What got me interested into the Cav was that by luck I was getting on tac 1 one Wednesday afternoon when I noticed I hadn’t spawned at the airfield I was akin to and went around asking what was going on. I had accidentally stumbled upon one of the weekly public events which at the time were part of a major AAF campaign iirc. I enjoyed it a lot more than the regular gameplay I&A had to offer so at the end of it I was directed to the TeamSpeak and the website if I wanted to keep tabs on the times of each of these ops and/or enlist, which I couldn’t because I had just turned 17 at the time. I visited the site on a daily basis to ensure I could get the time for each Op as soon as possible and started taking a look at the resources and MILPACS out of curiosity and noticed how this clan was structured and organized at a level WAY beyond what I have seen in any other clan or RP community I had been apart of. I also caught wind of ACV and would attend many of their ops with a friend of mine. I wanted to enlist SO badly but I was too young and was worried by the time I came of age the clan would die. So over time I got into other games and, over time, lost interest with Arma 3 until I took a long hiatus when Apex came out because at the time I couldn’t afford it and tac 1 was moved to Tanoa. I occasionally visited the website to see if tac1 had changed back or if the Cav was getting into any other games that I was playing. Around August iirc my friend (the one I mentioned earlier) already had Apex and was still playing the ACV ops as they had just came out with “Nam 2” which used assets from Tanoa; so I was barred from that server too. He ended up gifting me Apex just so I would play with him and I started getting back into it. I also noticed by then that Tac 1 was moved back to Altis. It was no longer well-populated as it had been before, but I could tell it was recovering. A few days after my 18th birthday it had occurred to me that I was old enough to enlist in the Cav! I decided to join the ts3 but stayed in the recruiting lobby hoping I could talk with someone on the state of the Cav and what to put in the form. Coincidentally Bremer.T, a member of Delta Company, came to my aid and explained how ACV is D.co now and 2nd battalion stood down. He proceeded to help me fill out the form and told me a little more about what to expect in the coming days. I probably wouldn’t be in the section I’m in if it weren’t for him, so I appreciate Bremer for being my recruiter and helping my situation when S1 got backed up and my enlistment took a bit longer than expected.

    TL;DR I would not have joined the Cav had it not been for the tac 1 events.

    I imagine there are people just like me who play on tac 1 and would be interested in this stuff if they would just get a taste of it! We could tell them of our other servers as a stepping stone of enlistment & encourage them to join the TS server. I’d hope JB would be thrilled to help set these up as it would reduce the S3 resources needed to do these alongside our other ops. Please consider!

    Love your story thanks. In fact, we will be running our first pub op on TAC 1 set up and run by JB and WO1. Dakota on Saturday, 28 APR 18 at 2200Z. More to follow in a comprehensive post this weekend. Thanks!

    @Davidson.J
    Talk about a blast from the past. The "Motherland" series where players are AAF fighting CSAT. I remember making those. I would run them on European evenings and @Schoenhoff.N would run them during US evenings.

    Biggest issue with getting Cav members on board in my experience is the lack of radios for orderly comms on Tac1.

    That said... we did have a reasonably fun 24 hour op on Tac1 some 2 years back. Maybe I could run another?

    Sounds awesome! Thanks for letting me know and taking the time to read all of that ;)
    Yes I remember now! FOR THE MOTHERLAND was what I first played. Thanks for reminding me. Btw if you wanna start making those again, plz get S5 to post them on the homepage at least a week beforehand. Believe me, people read it ;)
    Yeah, that’s something I didn’t figure out until I joined. From what the dates on the MILPACS told me, the Cav seemed to be about 7-8 years old; which IS still a long time. But like I said, I’ve seen old clans die before and from what I could tell from the outside the Cav wasn’t very active. All I saw was a few Cav TV episodes and whatever popped up on the homepage, which S5 didn’t use much at the time.

    It’s actually even older. 2002 to be exact: https://wiki.7cav.us/index.php/7th_Cavalry

    Yeah I believe someone mentioned that to me after I joined and that really surprised me. But I only learned that after I joined because before then the Wiki was just a few extra pages in the resources tab and it didn’t mention anything about that iirc.

    I kinda want to talk to someone who was in the clan way back when and ask them if they have played with the AAA clan. It was a US-faction clan I played Heroes & Generals with. They date back to 2002 with Battlefield: 1942 and their leader (Kanga) has always been around since then.

    I don’t think anyone active here was around back then. You could always ask @Chance.JT about our history. I’m sure he’d enjoy a PM about it
