S3 ARMA AVIATION CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

The S3 ArmA Aviation Center of Excellence is conducting Rotary flight training in the month of October. This training is open to all troopers of the Regiment, regardless of MOS. We will be running the Ground School, Basic Rotary Wing and Advanced Rotary Wing courses. While these courses must be completed in order, they may be done over any period of time that suits the individual student - there is no time-out period. After completing each course, the student must pass each evaluation one on one with an Instructor Pilot.

    October Schedule

    Ground School - 02 October 2017, 0100Z
    Basic Rotary-Wing - 07 October 2017, 1600Z
    Advanced Rotary-Wing - 14 October 2017, 1600Z

    Ground School

Ground School is common to both rotary and fixed-wing aviators. It is 1 hour long and covers the following topics:
    • Flight basics.
    • Airfield familiarization.
    • Radio procedures.
    • Aeronautical navigation.
    • Aircrew procedures.
    • Flying the circuit.
    • Landing procedures.
    • Emergency procedures.

    Basic Rotary-Wing

Basic Rotary-Wing is 1.5 hours long and covers the following topics:
    • Pre-flight and start-up.
    • Taxi and parking.
    • Takeoff.
    • Flight Maneuvers, and flight levels
    • Landing.
    • Formations.
    • Emergencies

    Advanced Rotary-Wing

Advanced Rotary-Wing is 2 hours long and covers the following topics:
    • Flight Planning.
    • Sling Loading.
    • Air Assault.
    • Bullseye.
    • Combat Search and Rescue.
    • Recon and Flight Escort.
    • 9 Lines.
    • Rotary Combat.
The S3 ArmA Aviation Center of Excellence is always looking for new instructor pilots. Those interested should contact @Walsh.D for more information.

  2. Good afternoon gentlemen.

Cpt.Boondog has been flying around on the I&A Servers for a duration of approximately 2 months.

Seeing this flyer for rotary wing training and qualification has certainly peaked my interest. Are there planning activities underway for the next lot of sessions upcoming in the next few months?

For the sake of transparency I reside in the UK so I have a dependency on timings but keen to see & hear what activities are taking place?

Upon satisfactory completion of the above training; I would also be keen to investigate flight instruction status.

    Kind regards

    Cpt.Boondog

Howdy Boondog, Lemme try and answer these for ya real quick..

Are there planning activities underway for the next lot of sessions upcoming in the next few months?
Yes, we run a Minimum of one complete "Training Circuit " per month. A training circuit encompasses 3 Classroom courses, These are described in the post above

For the sake of transparency I reside in the UK so I have a dependency on timings but keen to see & hear what activities are taking place?
Most of the Classes we post are around the 1600z-1800z Range, to try and stay Friendly to both sides of the pond, We can consider other times as needed. After Basic flight there is an In game evaluation, upon passing that eval you are cleared to attend the Advanced flight Classroom course, after that course there is an Advanced in game evaluation, passing that awards you your Wings. None of the Eval task are Hidden or secret, they are all shown beforehand so you may practice, And those evals are scheduled one-on-one, at your convenience.(most are shown in the 7Cav flight training youtube channel) A round of Rotary training will take place again in November

Upon satisfactory completion of the above training; I would also be keen to investigate flight instruction status.
Sure, After earning your Senior wings, a Pilot would be welcomed into the ranks of instructor, there is a short process of teaching supervised classes and learning some procedure, after which you are turned loose. Senior wings are earned by Flying, as Pilot, in 5 official Ops or Cav movements, That can be completed in as quickly as One month, as our Speed Demon @Adam.J has recently demonstrated.

Let me Know what Else I can answer for you Sir,

    Thanks,
    Walsh
