  • Platoon coordinated and moved well together killing hundreds of enemy
  • Lots of people stepped up into leadership roles and did well

Cons:

FTLs: SSGT Centeno.JP, CPL Morrow.J

Pros:
  • Coms on PLT Net were organized
  • Fireteams where well lead and had veteran players, thus Good inter Squad communication.
  • Both Squads kept good tempo even though 1st had multiple mass cas's
  • Love Lithium

Cons:
  • Framerate drop most likely due to multiple airborne assets in the AO
  • Need more ground troops instead of assets like tanks and helos to allow squads to bump each others locations and reorganize after contact, rather trade out eagle and raider for a support squad with MGs and Mortars providing SBF

Posting on behalf of Sparrow.

Element Callsign:
Sparrow-1
Element Leader: Sutodoreh

Pros:
-
From CAS perspective felt the OP was pretty clean -- communication between Infidel and CAS assets seemed clear and consistent, all assets were being used effectively.
- Recommendations for improvement would mainly be for CAS/CAP assets to watch sensors more carefully and respond more quickly to spawning enemy air assets before they reach the AO itself rather than after. Overall, pilots worked well together today and meshed well with forward controllers.

Cons:
-
At today's WFW there was a blue-on-blue incident involving myself as Sparrow-1 (AH-6 Littlebird). In my view, which I believe the Infidel and other pilots will confirm, the operation up until the time of this FF incident was extremely smooth and positive. Communication between CAS assets and JTAC, and between CAS assets and other assets, was consistently positive.

Near the end of the operation, Sparrow was tasked by Infidel to engage and destroy two barracks, which I did with Hydras. Sparrow was next tasked on a SW-NE hydra run inside of a box drawn by Infidel on the map within 20m of friendly forces. I began my run, confirmed with Infidel that the run was danger close, was told to continue hot due to friendlies being overrun (there was an ongoing mass casualty situation caused by hostiles which we were being tasked to support). I executed my run and egressed NE before being told by Infidel to repeat from NE. While repeating my fire mission, I took machinegun fire from a tower (the capturable ~10m tall camp towers) filled with infantry who I therefore believed were hostiles extremely close to friendlies I was tasked with supporting. Liber, who was in ZEUS, can confirm this. I took at least one round directly through the helicopter and returned fire on the tower with my remaining rockets, then switched to the GAU-19/A but was shot unconscious by friendly forces and killed on contact with ground.

I do not know the names of the people who fired on me, or whether a command element gave an order to fire, but ZEUS reported that the friendly units who fired at me were laughing about it at the time. Additionally, none of those forces even attempted to reach me or Infidel to report a blue-on-blue and request a wave-off -- they simply fired at and shot down a friendly air asset trying to support them.
Sgt Hess and SGM Nexhex proceeded to tell the WFW lobby in side chat, falsely, that Sparrow attacked friendly forces unprovoked. I apologized extensively for the mistaken blue-on-blue during AAR, but not a single person who fired upon me purposely came forward to explain their behavior in firing upon me initially.

COMBAT AFTER-ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Bison-1
Element Leader:
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wulf.C
Corporal Baruch.J

Pros:

  • My co-pilot did a great job.
Cons:
  • The amount and frequency of anti-air assets is insane (from red-air to various ground assets).
  • Infidels do not know what to do with Bison-1
  • With increase in air assets we need to push having more than one infidel, between Raider, Eagle, Sparrow, and Bison CAS net 12 was overwhelming.
  • The respawn bug with the H-60's is still present and cost us time and created confusion at the start.

COMBAT AFTER-ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: INFIDEL for first 1hr 15 min of Op
Element Leader: Sergeant Kastor.K

Pros:
  • Assets very responsive on 12 LR net, clear comms.
  • Effective missions where executed.
  • Great pilot turnout.
Cons:
  • Too many airframes and types for a single INFIDEL to handle, especially with no PEGASUS (at the same time I was juggling BUFFALO, RAIDER, SPARROW, BISON and EAGLE).
  • Introduction of new airframe types (BISON) without any mention of capability or how to apply them during brief. Some (e.g. BISON / SPARROW) seemed to overlap in capacity and toolsets (FFAR and guns), probably only one was really necessary.
  • Loss of air superiority when EAGLE had to sing off at 1hr mark.
  • Planned airframe loadouts not mentioned during brief, which delayed my own planning on how to apply them until I was fully briefed by pilots.
  • Way too many anti-air and RED AIR assets constantly spawning at AO, had to constantly deal with airframes going down.
  • Infantry leadership did not call for CAS despite overwhelming enemy assaults and heavy opposition. Had literally one call from the ground during my time on, which was denied due to a request of support by fire under 200m from friendlies moving in the direction of the call.
  • Due to above, Op turned to switching between long periods of "sit on a hill with binocs and try to spot anything worth hitting" and brief moments of "frantically try to kill the APCs / technicals / ZU trucks that spawn and rush in from the North and threaten to overrun the infantry platoon". Would have been much more enjoyable with infantry cooperation and proper utilization of all the air assets we had on call.
