7th Cavalry Gaming

Tactical Gaming Excellence

Scenario:
For unknown reasons, Russia has invaded the mainland US, on the Eastern Seaboard. Russian forces have reached as far as New Mexico, sweeping across the western US in an attempt to cripple Washington into surrender. Meanwhile, CENTCOM has ordered all US forces to pull out of the Middle East immediately. Echo Company of the 7th Cavalry division is the last Company stationed at an airfield just outside of the city of Al Basrah, and must exfil leaving behind as few assets as possible. That said, friendly forces abandoned a Stryker APC at a village due south of the airfield. Echo Co. is tasked with the security or disposal of this hardware, and then must exfil with at least 2x (two) vehicles in possession, and at least 9x Infantry. OPSEC has alerted us that the dunes east of the city will be heavily mined, but the central highway that is vital for the City has been left untouched. As well, the terrorists have destroyed all the bridges in their control, but the villagers have managed to convince Al Quada to leave bridges in their territory intact.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mission for BLUFOR:

Recover friendly assets in the area and exfil the hot zone while taking minimal casualties. Exfil with either Stryker or at least 9x Infantry to consider the mission a success. You may build a FOB at the Village after securing or destroying the abandoned Stryker to reinforce yourselves, but after you leave this FOB - there are no more reinforcements.

Good Luck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mission for OPFOR:

Allah has blessed us with this opportunity - the Americans are finally leaving! Hurriedly, too! We have mined the fields and blown the bridges! Best of all, we know exactly what route they will take to leave the city. Unfortunately, because this city is smiled upon by Allah, we cannot lay mines blindly in the streets, or destroy ALL the bridges. We will, however, place IEDs which we can control! We must kill as many of these invaders as we can, so they know never to come back!

Mission:

Type of Combat Mission: Seek and Destroy

7th Cavalry units are ordered to coastal lowlands in Binh Dinh Province to clear NVA and VC forces from the area.

General Notes: 7th Cavalry will be air lifted into the area to seek out the enemy.

Historical Notes of Actual Operation:

In February 1967, the 1st Cavalry Division launched Operation Pershing, what would become an eleven month campaign to clear much of the Binh Dinh Province of NVA and Viet Cong activity. All three of the division’s regiments were committed to this fight, including the 7th Cav, General Armstrong Custer’s old command. During the next year, Operation Pershing triggered eighteen major engagements and countless skirmishes as the troopers of the 1st Cav struggled to clear tunnel and cave complexes on the Bong Son Plain and its environs.
